A survey that is in many respects detailed. It follows the development of Buddhist thought from its beginnings in India to China and Japan: its early Theravada (Hinayana) form and Mahayana. The book obtained several good reviews and is a good starter if one likes to know more of the philosophic side of Buddhism.
